The Challenge
At K 2019, the leading international trade fair for the plastic industry, Covestro wanted a brand presence that communicated the company’s vision and goals and also gave visitors an idea of the broad possibilities of Covestro, with its huge variety of components and materials. As creative lead agency we fulfilled our clients’ wish by creating the concept of an immersive Augmented Reality (AR) experience.
What We Did
An agile concept: Materials coming to life
Our aim was to digitally charge the architecture with content and to create an experience that illustrated Covestro's values of curiosity, courage and colour, with imagination.
Different booth elements included a sample library, a life circle wheel, and a quiz machine. This offered an immersive experience of the company’s various material types in a visual, interactive, and tactile way. Material was integrated, as with a display made using Makrolon.
Another core element was the large discussion arena at the centre of the booth, which gave space for expert talks, discussions and an AR show presenting the sustainability goals of Covestro in an unusual and engaging way.
A highlight of this project was a motion design that allowed visitors to turn themselves into an avatar of the key materials – granulates, lacquers, plastic panels, and foam materials. This was a truly agile brand presentation which focused on people as well as materials.
How We Delivered
Matching the motto of Covestro - ‘Pushing boundaries’ - we took our K-concept of 2016 to the next level and intensified the immersive experience together with our partners. We were able to re-use many of the core elements but added new interactive exhibits, sample bars and digital displays.
The brand presence gave visitors a lasting impression of Covestro’s inspiring branding and allowed them to experience the #PushingBoundaries strap-line through every detail of the exhibition stand.
